The opening ceremony of Local Government Week 2026 was held on September 14, 2026, at the Debarawewa fairgrounds. The event was attended by Hon. Member of Parliament Mr. Athula Weladagoda; the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and members of the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha; the Chairman of the Tissamaharama Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society; the Tissamaharama Divisional Secretary; the Tissamaharama Medical Officer of Health; the Secretary and other officials of the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha; as well as political representatives, the business community, and the general public.

Furthermore, coinciding with the mobile service and revenue promotion day scheduled for that date, the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha, the Tissamaharama Divisional Secretariat, the Hambantota Assistant Land Commissioner’s Office, the Tissamaharama Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, and the Tissamaharama Medical Officer of Health Office jointly conducted mobile services for the local community.
