Tissa weva is a lake in the Tissamharama region of Sri Lanka. It is believed to have been built by King Mahanaga who ruled in the Ruhuna region in the 3 rd century. It was later reconstructed in 1871 and now spans over an area of about 652 acres. The Tissa weva which provides water for paddy cultivation done in many large paddy fields in the area is a valuable resource for the people of Tissamaharama. The banks of the Tissa weva have been landscaped beautifully and the big trees on it add much grandeur to the lake. The often crowded Tissa weva is a famous place for bathing.
